Videophobia (2019)

The film follows a young woman named Ai, who lives in Korea Town in Osaka. She is aspiring to be an actor and attends acting classes. After class, she goes to a club with her classmates and meets a random guy. She goes to his house. The next day, she is extremely shocked to learn that the sex tape of her is circulated online. This film speaks to the era when online sex exploitation is prevalent. After that day, Ai does not feel normal at all. She becomes extremely anxious and paranoid about everything. However, nobody seems to care about her problems, even police. She feels that she is no different from Mrs. Alving from Henrik IBSEN’s Ghosts, which she studies at the acting classes. Panic keeps attacking her. Expressionistic black-and-white scenes immediately bring tension as we follow the screen.
